About The Insomnia:
Insomnia is trouble falling asleep or they may difficulty in staying asleep through the night. Episodes may come and go(episodic),last up to 3 weeks(short-term),or be long-lasting(chronic).

CAUSES



    • Sleep habits learned as children may affect the sleep behaviors as adults.When these behaviors are repeated over many years, they become habits.

Ayurvedic Medicines For Cronic Insomnia

DRAKSADI KASAYAM: 60 ml bd (Madhura rasam,Vatapitta samanam)
Drakshadi Kashayam benefits: It is used to treat hangover produced after having excess alcohol. It also reduces the ill effects of alcohol and helps in quick metabolism of alcohol from liver. It also protects liver. It is used to treat fever of Vata and Pitta origin. It relieves tiredness and dizziness. It is used to treat nasal bleeding, internal burning sensation, jaundice, excessive thirst.
Useful in the treatment for schizophrenia.
Drakshadi Kashayam dose: The dose is 12 – 24 ml, before food, at about 6 am and 6pm or as directed by Ayurvedic doctor. It is usually advised to add equal amount of water
the kashayam. It is advised to have a little honey or sugar after taking / along this medicine.
Pathya:
Avoid onions, asa foetida, horse gram, yams and brinjal and body movements too.
Adjuvants:
Honey, sugar or flowered rice powder.

Chandana – Santalum album

It is added with 8 parts of water, boiled and reduced to quarter part, filtered.

ASVAGANDHADI CHURNAM: 1 teaspoon with milk at bed time(vata samanam,balyam,ksayagnam,vataroga haram)
Ashwgandhadi Churna uses:
It improves digestion, relieves abdominal pain, dizziness, debility, tiredness, fatigue.
In case of Vata kshaya (deficiency) and Pitta Shosha (emaciation) it is administered along with Cow ghee or goat ghee.
In case of deficiency of Kapha, it is given along with honey.
In urinary tract disorders, it is given along with butter.
In dizziness and burning sensation due to Pitta, it is given along with milk.
Effect on Tridosha – Balances Vata, Pitta and Kapha, when used with suitable co drinks.
Aswagandhadi Choorna Dosage:
3 grams, once or twice a day before or after food or as directed by the Ayurvedic doctor.

MANASAMITRA VATAKAM: 2 nos three times a day after food(manodosa haram, for stress relief)
Manasamitra Vatakam is a tablet, used in Ayurvedic treatment of psychiatric conditions, to improve intelligence, speech problems, etc. It is prepared from a combination of 73 ingredients. This medicine should only be taken under strict medical supervision. This medicine is formulated based on Kerala Ayurveda principles.

KSIRABALA TAILAM: along with pancaganda curnam-tailam(vata pitta samanam)
Ksheerabala 101 Thailam uses:
It helps to relieve pain and inflammation. It is used in arthritis, sciatica, myalgia, spondylosis, etc.
It is used in pain due to neurological origin – neuralgia.
This oil on oral intake in form of Ksheerabala 101 capsule is believed to bring about nerve regeneration
It is used in all types of arthritis – RA, Osteo-arthritis and gout.
It brings about rejuvenation, nourishing in nature and improves quality of voice.
Many ailments like cataract, earache, head ache, suryavartta, gulma, vaginal disorders and colic are relieved by this.
Dosage:
For oral intake, if capsule, the usual dose is 2 capsule 2 times a day before food. It is usually administered along with hot water, which helps in quick absorption.
If it is plain oil and indicated for oral intake, it is given in a dose of 5 – 10 drops once or twice a day, usually before food. Patient is asked to drink a glass of warm water following the oil.
6-10 drops for Nasya.
In vata this is to be applied warm, not so in rheumatism.
Pathya:
Light food is to be taken with light pathya rules.
Ksheerabala oil ingredients:
Ksheerbala 101 is the oil, which is processed for 101 times. Usually it is used only for internal administration.
Ksheerabala taila – name suggests that it is processed only for one time. Usually this oil is used for external application, as in massage, Panchakarma treatment (enema) etc. However, this version of the oil can also e taken internally.

Ksheera means cow milk
Bala means an herb called Sida cordifolia
Taila means – sesame oil
The oil is formulated as follows –
Bala – Sida cordifolia 10 grams
Bala – water decoction – 160 ml
Ksheera – Milk – 160 ml
Taila – Sesame oil – 40 ml

BALASHWAGANDHADI TAILAM: External application (vataharam, balyam)
Balaswagandhadi Tailam Uses:
It is used in the treatment of a headache, fever, emaciation, muscle wasting, lack of strength in joints, muscles and bones.
It is used in all Vata diseases like arthritis, neuralgia, paralysis, insanity etc.
It strengthens muscle, improves quality of blood.
This oil is also known as Ashwagandha bala lakshadi thailam
It is good in catarrh.
Balaswagandhadi Tailam ingredients:
768 g of coarse powder of each of
Bala – Sida cordifolia
Ashwagandha – Withania somnifera
Laksha – Laccifer lacca
Water for decoction – 12.288 liters, boiled and reduced to 3.072 liters
Taila – Oil of Sesamum indicum – 768 ml
Mastu – Supernatent liquid of curds – 3.072 liters
12 g of fine powder of each of following, made together as paste.
Rasna- Pluchea lanceolata
Chandana – Red Sandalwood – Pterocarpus santalinus
Manjishta – Rubia cordifolia
Durva – Cynodon dactylon
Madhuka – Licorice – Glycyrrhiza glabra
Choraka – Angelica glauca
Sariva – Hemidesmus indicus

Special method – Laksha is
is powdered well and placed in a vessel. Hot water is poured and stirred well. When the water becomes red it is strained and used.

Balaswagandhadi Kuzhambu is the same product. But here, in place of sesame oil base, a mix of sesame oil, castor oil and ghee is used as base. The two extra base combination further adds to the Vata pacifying quality of the oil. Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala manufactures this product.
Expiry date: 3 years from the date of manufacture. Once you open the seal, it is better to use it within a year.
